The American Jobs Plan is a once-in-a-generation investment in America’s infrastructure – like rebuilding crumbling roads and bridges and making sure every American has access to broadband and clean water – but also investing in research and development. Once passed, this plan will rebuild the country’s infrastructure, creating millions of jobs while making us more resilient to the impacts of climate change.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
President Biden’s infrastructure plan would invest in public transportation to modernize existing transit and bring bus, bus rapid transit, and rail service to communities across the country to reduce traffic congestion. The American Jobs Plan is our chance at a safer, more resilient, and more fair transportation system.
HIGHWAYS, ROADS, & BRIDGES
For decades, infrastructure in Minnesota has suffered from a systemic lack of investment, and there are 661 bridges and 4,986 miles of highway in poor condition. Minnesotans across the state drive these roads every single day, and President Biden’s plan would include investments to improve air quality, limit greenhouse gas emissions, and reduce congestion. With this in mind, we can modernize highways, roads, and bridges by fixing them right with safety, resilience, and equity in mind.
ELECTRIC VEHICLES
Electric vehicles are the future of transportation. We can create millions of good paying jobs by investing in that future and powering them with clean energy to slash our greenhouse gas emissions. The American Jobs Plan prioritizes clean energy and electric vehicles to meet President Biden’s goals of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 — it’s time for the U.S. to invest in electric vehicles, charging ports, and electric heat pumps for residential heating and commercial buildings.
