DFL Party Statement on White House Comment ‘We Are Not Going to Control the Virus’

10/25/2020

Today, DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement in response to White House Chief of Staff Meadows saying that ‘We are not going to control the virus”:

“It’s absolutely unacceptable that as Minnesotans continue to get sick and die from COVID-19 that the Trump White House has completely given up on doing their jobs to fight for the American people. As Joe Biden put it, President Trump said we’re learning to live with this virus. No, we’re dying with it.  At the time of the last debate, America was averaging about 40,000 new cases a day.  Now we’re seeing nearly 70,000 new cases a day — and the White House has admitted that ‘We are not going to control the pandemic.’ Minnesotans deserve more than a president who gives up when the going gets tough, and voters across Minnesota will hold Trump and his failure of leadership accountable for the next nine days as we vote in droves for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and DFLers up and down the ticket.”
