It is a goal of the Hubbard County DFL, a unit of the Minnesota DFL, to build a positive presence and reach out to voters based on the following Hubbard County DFL values that:
- Work toward a healthy environment of clean air and water to the benefit of all county residents, including those involved in agriculture, the arts, fishing, tourism and hunting
- Encourage work opportunities that provide fair, livable wages and benefits
- Support community members who educate, train and support our children and adults
- Advocate for health care that is affordable for all
- Support responsible gun ownership and safety
- Support our endorsed DFL candidates.
We accomplish our goal by sponsoring Walleye and Wild Rice dinner fundraisers, having a booth at the County Fair, having a booth at Crazy Days, taking part in the 4th of July parade and sponsoring event(s) yet to be determined.

Our Upcoming Events
DFL DITCH PICKUP. Spring is here and so it’s time for ditch pickup even during the pandemic. Meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at 189th Ave., across from Up North Power and Sports on Highway 34, east of Park Rapids. From there, bvolunteers will disperse east and west to pick up trash along the highway between the flea market and the Dorset corner. Some will start at 189th Ave. and others at the flea market or the Dorset corner. Please wear masks when you’re receiving trash bags and safety vests but you don’t need to wear masks when actually picking up the junk. When your bags are full or semi-full, tie them up and leave them on the north side of the road for the MN DOT employees to pick up. PRACTICE PHYSICAL DISTANCING. We won’t be meeting for coffee afterwards. Please stay in your own vehicles when dispersing to where you are to begin. There is roadside parking by the flea market and by Lakeside Floors and Design near the Dorset Corner.
Ticks are out in force. Wear your pants inside your socks and use tick spray on your pants and socks; wear good boots and gloves.
Back up date in case of severe weather will be Wednesday, May 27 at 10 a.m.
CLEAN UP OF GREENWOOD CEMETERY. The Park Rapids Lions Club is asking community organizations to participate in a clean up of Greenwood Cemetery east of Park Rapids on Highway 34. Each organization, DFL included, will be assigned a certain area of the cemetery to clean. Cleaning consists only of weed whacking or hand trimming of weeds around gravestones. Mowing is done by the cemetery staff. DFL volunteers are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20. Let Maurice Spangler know if you can help (firstname.lastname@example.org) (252-9513). Bring your own weed whackers or trimmers.
HUBBARD DFL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: The Executive Committee met April 13 and May 11 via Zoom. The committee’s next meeting will be June 8.
