Emmer Votes Against Hurricane Harvey Relief

[ST. PAUL, MN] – Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement today after Republican Representative Tom Emmer (MN-06) voted against Hurricane Harvey relief. Emmer was the only member of Minnesota’s Congressional Delegation to vote against providing relief. Fortunately, the relief bill still passed 316-90.

“Representative Emmer’s vote today can be summed up in one word: heartless. Everyone has seen images of the incredible devastation in Texas. People are hurting. Lives have been upended. It will take the entire nation to lift the state back up, and Minnesotans know it is our duty as Americans to do so. Of all the issues to break with President Trump on, it’s disappointing that Emmer chose abandoning families still reeling from Hurricane Harvey.”
