DFL Chair Statement on Senate Republicans’ Second Attempt at Health Care Bill

[ST. PAUL, MN] – Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Chair Ken Martin released the following statement today in response to Senate Republicans’ second attempt at a health care bill:

“Senate Republicans’ second attempt at a health care bill can be summed up in the words of President Trump: Sad! The bill unveiled today keeps in place severe cuts to critical health services that aid our country’s most vulnerable. It remains woefully inadequate in addressing the opioid epidemic devastating our communities. It would lead to higher premiums for people with preexisting conditions, and open the door to junk insurance plans that would leave American families with skimpy health coverage.”

“In Minnesota, we know health care is a right for all, not a privilege for a few. That is why we have risen up in opposition to Republicans’ efforts to strip health insurance from millions of Americans. We will keep up our momentum, and we will defeat this bill just like we did the last one.”
