DFL Launches Petition Drive to Urge Minnesota Business to Pull Support from Nolan West
St. Paul—Today DFL Chair Ken Martin announced a petition drive to call on Minnesota businesses that donated to the Republican Minnesota Jobs Coalition (MJC) to condemn its support of Nolan West.
West is the former Republican house staffer who resigned in the wake of revelations he posted numerous racist, sexist, anti-LGBTQ and other hateful material on social media, including calling for the lynching of President Obama. The MJC is running television ads attacking West’s opponent.
“Minnesota is a great state to do business because of our human capital, and that talent goes where cultural diversity is celebrated,” said DFL Chair Ken Martin. “Minnesota businesses that donated to support a known racist should pull their support and condemn his hatred and bigotry. All Minnesotans, no matter political affiliation, should be united behind the belief that racism and misogyny have no place in our state.”

At the time of West’s revelations GOP state chair Keith Downey said, “Nolan West’s past social media posts are unacceptable and contradict the very core of Republican values.”
Speaker Kurt Daudt also called the comments Nolan West posted, “inappropriate and wrong.”
