Statement from Chairman Ken Martin on Senate Passage of Unemployment Insurance Extension
“I applaud the Senate for passing the much needed Unemployment Insurance (UI) Extension for laid-off steelworkers on the Range. While Minnesota’s economy is getting stronger, not everyone is sharing in this prosperity.
“Struggling families on the Iron Range are looking to our legislators for assistance, not the cheap political tricks Speaker Daudt seems so fond of. While Speaker Daudt is getting special favors from his powerful friends to deal with his financial difficulties, Minnesota Iron Rangers continue to wait for the desperate help they need from the House Republicans.
“The Governor and the Senate have offered a path forward for Daudt and the GOP to help Minnesota families. A clean UI bill is a strong first step towards building an economy that works for everyone and not just the wealthy few. Now, the House needs to do their job and pass this bill.”
