Statement from Chairman Ken Martin on Tonight’s State of the State

“Tonight Governor Dayton shared his vision for a brighter future for all Minnesotans. Our state has been lauded across the country for being a great place to start a business. Our economy is thriving, our students are graduating at record rates, and our middle class is bouncing back. We must celebrate our achievements but its important to remember that not everyone is sharing in our economic recovery; including unemployed steelworkers and communities of color across Minnesota.

“Tonight’s State of the State comes on the heels of the start of our legislative session, where our leaders will build an economy that works for all Minnesotans by fixing our crumbling roads and bridges, closing the achievement gap in our schools, protecting our natural resources for generations to come, and investing in our state to create opportunities for all.

“The State of our State is good but it is up to us to do more to make significant investments to eliminate racial economic disparities and ensure that our economy is one that works for all communities across Minnesota.”
