The State Central Committee (SCC) is the governing body of the Minnesota DFL Party between State Conventions, which occur every two years. The State Central Committee meets three to four times a year. Its membership includes the State Executive Committee, 50 at-large members, ten elected officials, the chairs and vice chairs of each organizing unit, and representatives elected from local party units. A detailed list of the SCC voting membership is found in the Official Call, (see Party Documents). The State Central Committee operates under the party’s official documents and the State Central Committee Standing Rules. For matters not covered by those rules, the State Central Committee is governed by Robert’s Rules of Order.

The next meeting of the DFL State Central Committee (SCC) will be the Business Conference on Saturday, February 6th, at 11am, via Zoom video conference.

2021 Business Conference Agenda

The primary business to be conducted will be the election of new state party officers to a two-year term:

  • Chair
  • First Vice Chair
  • Second Vice Chair
  • Outreach Officer
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer

NOMINATIONS FOR PARTY OFFICER: According to the SCC Temporary Covid-19 Rules, anyone seeking to be nominated as a candidate for Party Officer during the Business Conference must request to be included on the ballot in advance. To inform the party of your intent to be nominated, complete this form by 11:59 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2021.

The State Central Committee’s duties:

  • Consider party issues, conduct training, and support party building activities
  • Reconvene an adjourned State Convention
  • Grant charters to new community outreach organizations
  • Modify the Action Agenda
  • Adopt or amend a Bylaw or addition to the Rule Book
  • Fill vacancies for positions elected by the State Convention or Business Conference
  • If necessary between conventions, endorse candidates for statewide office
