Minnesota Senate Passes the Driver’s Licenses for All Bill, Ensuring Safety for All Minnesotans on the Road

02/21/2023

ST. PAUL – Today, Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party Chairman Ken Martin released the following statement after the Minnesota Senate passed the Driver’s Licenses for All, which will grant legal driving privileges for undocumented immigrants:
“The Senate’s passage of the Driver’s Licenses for All bill is another step we’re taking towards a safe and secure Minnesota,” said DFL Chairman Ken Martin. “All Minnesotans, regardless of their citizenship or immigration status, should feel safe when driving to their jobs, schools, or medical appointments. In addition, this legislation helps ensure that more roadway drivers have passed a driving exam, understand the road rules, and can safely operate their vehicles.
“This is a common-sense public safety bill supported by a broad coalition of organizations: immigrant-led organizations, law enforcement, chambers of commerce, and unions, to name a few.
Congratulations to all of the DFL legislators, activists, and everyday citizens who have worked so hard and fought so long to make this dream a reality. Minnesota is a better and safer place because of your hard work.”
