Walz Statement on Recent Reports concerning the 2016 Election and Russian ties to American Citizens and U.S. Political Operatives

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Tim Walz (MN-01) released this statement following recent reports concerning the 2016 election and Russian ties to American citizens and U.S. political operatives:

“As a result of the developments that have been reported over the last few days, the already mounting stack of serious questions that remain unanswered continues to grow. The American people not only deserve to know how the United States was attacked in the 2016 election but also who all is responsible for this assault on the heart of our democratic institutions.

Congress must immediately create an independent, bipartisan commission to investigate the full extent of the Vladimir Putin-ordered Russian attack on our democracy including, but not limited to, all relevant ties between Russia and any American citizen or U.S. political operative.”

Rep. Walz is a cosponsor of the Protecting Our Democracy Act (H.R. 356), a bill to establish a National Commission on Foreign Interference in the 2016 Election. For the full text of the legislation introduced by Rep. Eric Swalwell (CA-15) and Rep. Elijah Cummings (MD-07), please click here.

Tina Liebling On Getting Involved

Tina Liebling

“Many people have asked me what they can do to take action in the wake of the election. Here is something you can do: help the DFL maintain a physical presence in Rochester and begin organizing for the CRITICAL 2018 election by making a small monthly (recurring) donation.
Just go to https://www.dfl.org/sd26/ and click on Make a Contribution on the right. You will be directed to ActBlue, where you enter the contribution amount, complete the required personal information, and click Continue. Check the box that says Make this a monthly recurring contribution and enter credit card information, then click Donate.
Thanks for taking this first step to help the DFL rebuild and help make Minnesota work for everyone!”
